Upon arriving at the casino, Thornwood started playing one of IGT’s Wheel of Fortune slot machines. Not long afterward, she hit a jackpot worth $961,411 – the second largest in the casino’s history.

“I heard all the people around me cheering as well, so it was just like a blur,” Linda said. “It was such a shock.”

According to ABC News, Eddie began to fear that his wife had been robbed in the casino upon seeing her surrounded by security. But much to his delight, security was only there to escort the lucky winner out of the casino.

“She was shaking and she had security around her and I said, ‘What happened, were you robbed?’ and she says, ‘No, I won $1 million,’ and I said, ‘What?'” recalled Eddie. “She says, ‘I won $1 million,’ and I said, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe it.'”

Linda also plans to continue working her job since she only has three more years until retirement.

The good news for Linda Thornwood is that, unlike Katrina Bookman at the nearby Resorts World New York casino, there was no machine malfunction involved in her windfall.
