Seven years ago, the Bellagio casino was robbed of $1.5 million by the “Bellagio Bandit.” And the Las Vegas casino was just recently victimized again by a gun-toting robber.

A gunman walked into the casino and pointed a weapon at the cashier’s cage. There’s no word at this time on how much money the robber made off with.

But there are plenty of eyewitnesses in the case, including actor and poker player James Woods.

Woods was playing poker at the time and tweeted that “a guy walks up with a gun and robs the cage thirty feet from us.”

He was impressed with the way the staff dealt with the matter, ensuring that no customers got hurt in the process.

Woods tweeted that the Bellagio staff members “were fantastic. They surrendered the money quietly, so no customers would get hurt. Nobody even realized it was happening. Excellent staff, cool under pressure.”

Vegas Police Expect to Catch Robber Soon

Las Vegas Metro Police Captain John Pelletier spoke with Fox News on the matter. And he sounds fairly confident that the perpetrator will soon be brought to justice.

“Those who commit crimes like this on the Strip will be hunted down and whatever amount of cash he got is not enough to face a lifetime in prison,” said Pelletier.

He added that investigators are “comfortable and confident” they’ll find the robber, who escaped in a silver Chevrolet Cruze with Nevada license plates.

Person in Questioning Already

Pelletier also said that somebody may have come into the casino with the suspect, but had nothing to do with the robbery. They’re currently cooperating with the Las Vegas Metro Police.

In the case of Anthony “Bellagio Bandit” Carleo, it only took police a few weeks to catch him. While his identity was concealed during the robbery thanks to a motorcycle helmet, he later was caught while trying to cash in the chips.
