Crown Casino Limited is dealing with allegations that they tampered with slot machines in order to encourage more play. Australia’s largest casino company is also accused of ignoring domestic violence and drug use on their property.

These claims come from three former Crown employees, who made the accusations to Australia’s parliament. Authorities are now set to investigate the claims that there have been “illegal and improper conduct” at the Melbourne casino.

How were the Slot Machines Tampered with?

The three whistleblowers said that Crown Casino fixed slot machine buttons so that they remain down and force players to make additional bets. They also made accusations that the buttons are made ambiguous in certain situations so that players won’t know how much they’re betting per spin.

According to the BBC, the claims were made in a 30-minute video conducted by independent MP Andrew Wilkie. The MP is a staunch opponent of casinos and gambling expansion throughout the country.

“If the allegations are true, it does suggest there is a systemic problem rather than a rogue individual,” said Mr Wilkie.

He blurred the whistleblowers’ faces and disguised their voices so that they can’t be recognized.

Drug and Domestic Violence Accusations

Crown Casino allegedly overlooked drug use and domestic violence among its customers. The employees also say that the casino even tried to avoid reporting some of these incidents to the authorities.

These claims as well as others will now be investigated by the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation.

As for Crown Casino Limited, they’re one of the largest companies in Australia and generate billions of dollars every year. But this case has the potential to cripple their image.
