The Atlantic City Revel will re-open as Ocean Resort Casino in the near future. And the casino resort will have a celebrity tenet in famed actor Mark Wahlberg.

The long-time Hollywood star will open one of his Wahlburgers restaurants at Ocean Resort. He’ll also launch a bar called Entourage in honor of the hit HBO show that he produced.

Wahlburg will bring a certain star appeal to Ocean Resort that the failed Revel didn’t have. And his Wahlburgers and Entourage bar will also be more high-profile than any of the other side businesses featured at the Revel.

New Ocean City Owner Hopes to Succeed where Revel Failed

A Colorado developer named Bruce Deifik purchased the former Revel property for $200 million from developer Glenn Straub. The latter spent most of his time arguing back and forth with local officials over the property.

Deifik has a much-different plan that includes getting right down to business. Set to open in late June, Ocean City will include a casino, resort amenities, restaurants, and other entertainment. According to NBC Philadelphia, he’s keeping an open mind on the property.

“The first thing we did is pay very close attention to what people said about this place, positive and negative,” said Deifik. “We will listen; that’s a difference-maker. Treat people with respect. Be glad they’re here, and treat them as family members.

“The main difference is a completely different attitude concerning service to our customer. I think there was a huge disconnect there.”

Ocean City Wants to Make Gamblers Feel Welcome

A common complaint among Revel visitors is that they didn’t feel welcome at the casino. This is a big reason why they only lasted less than two years before closing up shop.

But Deifik wants to avoid this perception at Ocean City. For starters, he’s going to have a designated smoking area.

“I’m a non-smoker, but there are groups of people out there that are smokers and you have to be respectful to those people when they come,” he said.

The casino will also have unique amenities like a chocolate shop and “Cereal Town” restaurant.
