Poker pro Jake Cody had plenty of reason to celebrate after recently winning the £2,200 No Limit Hold’em High Roller tournament at the 2018 UK Poker Championships. Cody’s prize was a £42,670 (US$59,393) payout, which is a nice amount, even for a guy who’s won over $4.5 million in his career.

But rather than adding the money to his bankroll, the Brit put his entire payout on the line in a roulette game. He bet on black in a red/black wager at England’s Dusk Till Dawn casino and cardroom.

Roy Yong, a fellow poker player who owns Dusk Till Dawn, accepted the bet and played croupier by spinning the wheel.

Did Jake Cody Win His Roulette Spin?

Several people filmed Cody’s roulette spin on their smartphones. And the poker pro can be seen standing with his friends, waiting in anticipation to see if he won.

Yong is also briefly shown spinning the ball into the field of play. Cody’s big bet hangs in the balance for several seconds, before the ball lands in a black pocket. The win triggers Cody’s in the crowd’s excitement as they jump around and cheer.

Cody’s Roulette Story is Reminiscent of Ashley Revell

Jake Cody’s roulette spin will no doubt go down in history as one of the most-famous bets in the game. This is especially the case when considering that there are multiple videos of the event floating around social media. And his roulette tale is reminiscent of another Englishman named Ashley Revell.

Revell sold his possessions so that he could earn money for a single roulette spin. When everything was sold off, including his house, car, and clothes, Revell collected $135,500 for his roulette spin.

He then traveled to a Las Vegas casino in an event that was filmed by the UK’s Sky One channel. The main difference between Revell and Cody is that is that the former put his money on red. But the result was the same – a win for Revell and a massive celebration afterward.
