I can remember landing at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport in the early 2000s and finding a bookstore chock-full of gambling materials. It was almost impossible to find what I was looking for because there were so many books.

Fast-forward to today, though, and gambling books are far less relevant. What happened to the gambling hardback and paperback industry?

Let’s discuss this matter by covering a few different things that have affected the volume of gaming books.

Online Gambling Articles

Gambling books used to be a great way to get all of your rules and strategy in one place. Going further, these works are often written by noted experts.

But ever since the consumer internet industry began increasing in the the mid-1990s, online articles have become a great source for strategy and other advice.

Some articles are so in-depth that they cover all the basic rules and strategy within a single website page. This negates having to visit bookstores or buy hardbacks and paperbacks from Amazon.

YouTube Gambling Videos

You can find a wealth of resources through YouTube videos. This includes a number of helpful gambling videos that can improve your play in many games.

Some people learn better through videos. And this is another reason why fewer consumers rely on printed books for their information.

E-Readers

If you do want to go the book route, you no longer have to do so through printed materials. This is because e-readers give you a convenient way to download books and read them on a handheld device.

Kindles and Nooks have made books more convenient than ever before. And you can also get products cheaper through e-readers too.

Gambling Strategy is More Prevalent

The fact that you have so many different ways to get gambling advice and strategy makes books less valuable. Why would you pay $10 or $15 when you can watch a video or read online articles for free?

This has in turn made gambling books less profitable for the authors. The end result is that we have fewer printed works in circulation. But luckily, you can find any information that you’re looking for online.
